How to adopt
By adopting a Lomdog, you're giving a rescued street dog a second chance at a safe and loving home. Adoption also creates space in our shelter to rescue another dog in need.
Whether you're based in Lombok or looking to adopt internationally, we'll guide you through each step of the process and help you understand what's involved.
Local adoptions are free. For international adoptions, adopters cover the costs involved in preparing and transporting their dog, including veterinary care, travel and documentation.

The adoption process
Every adoption is slightly different, but the overall process is straightforward. Once you've found a dog you're interested in, we'll guide you through the following steps.

Submit an application
Complete our adoption application with some information about you, your home and your experience with dogs.

Local adoption in Lombok
If you're based in Lombok, the adoption process is much quicker.
Timeline: Around 2–4 weeks
You'll be able to meet your dog and spend time getting to know them before deciding if they're the right match for you.
Local adoptions also help dogs stay close to where they were rescued, while creating space for us to continue helping other dogs in need.
International adoption
We regularly arrange adoptions to Europe and support adopters in other countries too.
We encourage international adopters to visit Lombok and meet the dogs in person where possible, but we understand this isn't always practical. We'll work with you to help find the right match.
Timeline: Approximately 4 months

Dogs travel in airline-approved crates and are carefully prepared to make their journey as safe and comfortable as possible.

For international adoptions, adopters cover the essential costs involved in preparing and transporting their dog

International adoption costs vary depending on the destination and the size of the dog. We'll explain all expected costs clearly before you decide to go ahead.
Adopter requirements
We want every Lomdog to find a safe, stable and loving home. To adopt, we ask that you:
Are over 18
Can provide a safe and stable home
Do not already have a dog
Are ready to make a long-term commitment of 10 years or more
Please be prepared for an adjustment period.
International adoption can be a difficult and stressful experience for a dog. There is no way to know exactly how a dog will react to travelling in a crate, flying and arriving in a completely new environment.
Some dogs settle quickly, while others may need days, weeks or even months of patience, reassurance and training before they feel comfortable in their new home. Adopters need to be prepared to give their dog the time and support they need, without expecting them to settle immediately.
We'll be here to support you throughout the adoption process and help you prepare for your new dog.
